I hate this for you, and many, many others. There is not enough allowance for grace and redemption in our world. People are always changing - we're all growing, learning, and evolving. Our justice system is anything but just, and lots of people are suffering for it, needlessly. ❤️
I'm mired in the job market also and my history has its share of black marks. I'm "fortunate" in that they all stem from nonsense I did 20+ years ago so my background checks are generally clean since much of that has been cleared from most name queries.
I dread fingerprinting though - that can supposedly dredge up some really old shit which is not where I want my prospective employers to go.
It sucks to get your job pulled out from under your feet like that. Have you searched for "fair chance" employers who are more tolerant of criminal history?
That's terrible how companies can make it so difficult for someone to get a job if they are not perfect. I hope you will be able to find a job soon.
